I am a blog reader. I am a blog lurker. I am that person who visits blogs regularly and never leaves a comment. Yep, that’s me. Hello, nice to meet you.
I have been reading a blog, Money Saving Mom, and she constantly talks about God, reading the Bible, and more often than not, someone leaves a comment on her site about God or the Bible.
It struck me today that THERE IS GOOD OUT THERE! There is a lot of bad in the world around us and we see that on the news and on the television, but there is also a whole bunch of good.
People are reading the Bible. People are saying prayers. People are helping others in our country and in countries around the world be better people. Friends are helping friends. Neighbors are helping neighbors. Good is out there and I’m seeing it more and more.
People are working hard to make the lives of others easier, trying to lighten one another’s burdens.
When I walk into a store with my three kids under 5, people don’t just stare at me like, “Geez, have you ever heard of population control?” Instead, people hold doors open for me. They ask if they can help me with my groceries. They look me in the eyes and say, “You are really blessed.”
My reply to that, “Yes, I am really blessed.”
I often think about raising my kids in these trying times. It scares me to think about raising my sons in a world where pornography is rampant. It scares me to raise a beautiful daughter in a world where promiscuity is widely accepted. It scares me to send my kids to public school when there are constant reports on the news of how children are being molested. It scares me to think that something terrible could happen to these sweet babies Heavenly Father has trusted me to protect while they’re making their way through this early journey.
There is one thing I find a huge amount of comfort in, I have been taught that the spirits who enter into the world in these last days, the days before the millennium, will be the strongest of Heavenly Father’s spirits. It gives me great hope that my kids will be strong enough to stand up for what is right, to look the adversary in the eye and say,
“Hey, you can’t hurt me. Your tricks won’t work on me! I’ve been taught the way in which I should live, the path I should take, and there’s nothing you can do to stop me from doing what’s right.”
I have to remember, there is good out there. Sometimes we have to look really hard to find the good, but it’s there. It’s in the smile the grocery store checker gives. It’s in the handshake of a close friend. It’s in the pages of the scriptures. It’s in the hug of a child. Amidst all the bad in the world, there is good.
Have you see the good in the world today?
