Menu Planning

My Princess 2009

I have the privilege of being the person who cooks just about every meal in our house. That means all of the prep work is mine as well.

From planning what we eat to the execution of the meal...it's all on my shoulders. Oswald used to help me cook on a regular basis, but his job has him pretty busy and I have learned that I love to cook. So it works for me because Oswald now cleans up after each meal.

Anywhoo-meal planning. That's where I was...

I usually start by deciding what meals I am going to cook that week, then I know what ingredients I may already have on hand or what I need to pick up at the grocery store. After doing this week after week, it gets old.

I get tired of picking meals because I feel like I am always picking the same meals. My Oswald likes some variety in his life. Where I could eat Mexican food every day, he would also like some Italian or some Asian food. It's hard for me to decide what meals we will be eating.

Another problem I have is being able to guess what he wants to eat, but when I ask him, this is what he says, "anything is fine with me, I'm not a picky eater." Thus making my life even more difficult!

Any suggestions for new meal ideas or new ways to overcome the meal planning blues???

What did you do this weekend?
--I went shopping with a friend, chaperoned a dance for the 14-18 year-olds at church, and listened to this guy. Great, but buys weekend!

What is one of your go-to meals each week?
--I pretty much always have the ingredients to make beans and rice. My kids don't really love it, but it's so good for them and super cheap to make!

If there was one place in the world you could go for the next week, where would it be?
--This is tough for me. I think I would want to go to somewhere super exotic. I would love to visit Hawaii, Australia, or New Zealand. I guess I want tropical. I'm ready to find a beach again, and soon!

  1. I'm right there with you! My go to used to be pasta-any kind/any way. Bow that I'm trying to eat healthier & eat at home it makes the choices much slimmer!

  2. my husband is the same way. he doesn't care what he eats as long as it's in front of him. no opinions as to what he wants to eat. but my kids are the opposite. they are picky. and i feel like we eat the same thing every week for the last 7 yrs. wow. time for a change.
