It's been a hard day...and it's only noon!

Yesterday I decided to get up early and exercise and have a little devotional with myself...remember...I'm trying to turn over a new leaf here.

Well, I set my alarm for 6:03am and got up. Read my scriptures and did some Zubma.

I was actually showered and dressed BEFORE 9am! It was a miracle! I was totally energized all day long. I was able to get a little organized for my new calling as Young Woman's President...more on that later.

I felt good. I was able to get some "me time" in the morning and in the evening. Oswald went to bed at 8pm, so I was alone until I retired at 9:30pm. I was totally stoked to follow the same routine this morning, only my little man changed all of my plans.

His normal routine consists of an early morning nap, about an hour long, a morning nap, about an hour long, an afternoon nap, 3-4 hours long, and an evening nap, usually from 5-6pm. Well, last night was different. He went down for his evening nap and didn't wake up...that is until I had already climbed into bed and gotten comfortable. He started "talking" in his bed, so I rolled my lazy bum out of bed and into his room to nurse him. He ate and ate, then I tucked him back in bed.

I have a problem when it comes to sleeping, it's hard for me to do it. I can stay asleep just fine, it's the getting to sleep that's difficult. So after I put him back to bed, I laid down and rolled around in my bed until 11pm. At midnight, my little man was really unhappy. I checked his diaper, tried burping him, I rocked him, everything. All he did was sit there and cry! He was totally unhappy!

Luckily, I had some frozen breast milk to feed him, so he got to have some more mommy's milk from a bottle because there was no way I was going to produce more. I had tried after all and he just screamed at me!

After he drank that bottle, he drifted off peacefully to sleep!

At 2:30am, Oswald was kissing me goodbye for the day. He checked on the little man and he was sound asleep. Thank goodness!

At 5:30am, the little man awoke. I picked him up and took him into my room. It was a battle of wills. His screaming will and my will to feed him and get back to sleep. My will won. He finally got what he needed and slept for another two hours, but there was no way I was going to get up at 6:03 again.

So my new leaf has to be started over again tomorrow.

This morning has been a hard one. I tired exercising and he did well for 20 minutes, but that was it. I had to hold him for the last half of my Zumba DVD. Then I fed him and he was pretty good for 30 minutes of piano practice. But he didn't last for long. He wanted me to hold him. Then, a few minutes later, he releaved himself. He hadn't used the bathroom in 2 days, so I think he might have been a little constipated. Now he's feeling much better and is taking his afternoon LONG nap!

Let's hope tomorrow is better!

Do you have any stories of how your kids changed all of your plans? How did you get back on track? Any ideas to help me produce more milk?

  2. That is everyday for me... Which is why our house still looks like a tornado hit it almost a month after moving in:). But fenugreek is supposed to increase your milk supply. I have a friend who takes it and she says it really works! It's an herb, so I think you can get it in a variety of forms (like tea or capsules, etc). A friend also gave me some tea called organic mothers milk that is supposed to help with your milk supply. I haven't tried it since I haven't needed to but idbe happy to send it on to you if you want! (and one of it's ingredients is fenugreek). Just email me or fb message me if you're interested!

  3. THANK YOU so much for your comment on my blog--I definitely feel good after losing that weight!

I totally can relate to days like this--like EVERY day--and that occasional ROCKIN' day happens and you've given SUCH hope that you can be on a schedule again and get your stuff done, etc....and then the baby does...well...messes it all up! lol
I definitely struggle with milk production too--don't know all your issues, but I have never been able to nurse past 3-4 months . I saw a lactation consultant this time, and over time she said I was DEFINITELY decreasing in production, but to keep at it--nurse like every 2 hours, but have a time limit (because my little man comfort nurses--a.k.a. making me the human binky!) And if you can, pump in between. Oh, and she said to squeeze your breast as he is nursing so you can fully empty the breast.
    That's all seemed to work--
I had plans to make it to the health store to get special gunk to take to help me, but I just couldn't find the time to make it all the way down there--so it all came back on it's own! :)
GOOD LUCK! That is definitely a hard thing!
