Feeling Inspired

(Out on our friends boat this last weekend!)

While my Princess sleeps, the second nap in two weeks, I am sitting here feeling inspired. Inspired to do many things. Like clean my house, cook yummy healthy food for my family, blog more and more consistently, and of course be outdoors.

Each of those areas comes with a catch. What's the point in cleaning my house if it just gets dirty again?

What's the point of cooking yummy food when I have to go to the grocery store to buy the ingredients?

What the point of blogging more and more consistently when Blogger is always making my life difficult?

And what's the point of being outside when the sun is so hot and the humidity is out of control?

Well, I'll tell you the point.

The point is that when my house is clean, I feel as though I have accomplished something. Like I have done my job for that day. Like I have done what I am "paid" to do. Plus, it's a stress reliever.

The point of cooking yummy HEALTHY food, even if it requires a trip to the grocery store, is because my kids deserve to have good food. I watched an episode of Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution this last weekend and saw what goes into making some of our yummy not-so-healthy food and it makes me want to gag. I ate some of that food not long after watching the show and I made myself sick to my stomach! yuck!

The point of blogging: well, it makes me happy. I miss writing and I love having the chance to write down how I feel about things and what I would like to change in my life and in the world around me.

And the point of being outside when it's hot and humid is simple. My kids love it. They get worn out, and I get chilled kids for the rest of the day. Plus, as an added bonus, the vitamin D is good for my body!

What are some things you might not want to do, but do anyway because in the end they make you and others happy?

  1. I totally feel you on the cleaning one. I dread it! Hate it! But when I am done I feel amazing! Like superwoman. I love that feeling of having a clean house even if it doesn't last for more than a day or two.

  2. When I was a young mother and especially when I started working full time, I would wait and clean for a whole day (Saturday) getting the house all clean at once. As the kids got older, they helped and we could knock it out in a hour or so. Now that I am alone taking care of things,(the house still gets dirty) I clean something everyday so I dont get over done, I can still enjoy going and doing fun things. Everyone feels better in a tidy, clean home.
