Pinterest Test: Pass or Fail

I posted on Facebook the other day about how I constantly "pin" things on Pinterest, but yet hardly do any of the things I "pin". Well, this time I tested a "pin" I had never "pinned" in the first place. How ironic! (does anyone else think of Alanis Morissett when they hear the word ironic?)

So I found a "pin" that a lot of my friends have been "pinning" involving cleaning your floors. I have never been the kind of person to obsess over my kitchen floor. If it gets mopped Oswald usually handles that and only after I've asked him a bazillion times.

So today when my Princess discovered ants in our kitchen, near the door to the backyard, I instantly thought about that "pin"

It called for 1Tbs of liquid dish washing detergent, 1/4 cup white vinegar, 1/4 cup baking soda and 2 gallons of water. So simple and I have all of those things on hand at all times.

I moved the table. I swept the floor. I mopped that sucker. I rinsed my mop after each section of the floor. I waited for the floor to dry and guess what?? My floors feel awesome!!

Now the ants are still coming in...but they no longer have anything to find on the floor!! So even though it did not do everything I wanted it to do...it did to everything it claimed to do!!

And for that...this gets a pass!! What a cheap and easy way to clean the floors without all those harsh chemicals that you can find in your grocers isles!!

What "pins" have you tried? Do you love a clean floor??

  1. Wow!!! I wonder if it works on wood laminate. I already mop my floors with diluted vinegar so it probably wouldn't hurt to add the other ingredients, right?

  2. I have a board on pinterest called I did it! That is where I put all of my pins that I have done...Corn meal really works well on ants...they eat it and they die...and you can vacuum or sweep it up! Just a helpful hint!
